The Rev. Dr. Joyce Miriam Brooks is an Anglican priest of Jewish descent. She is currently forming Beth Messiah Anglican Congregation, where Jews and Gentiles worship Yeshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) together while fully embracing the Jewish roots of the Gospel. This is an emerging work of the Anglican Church of North America (ACNA).
Her first career was as a nonprofit professional. She was on the development team at Biola University for 19 years, serving on the steering committee of five capital campaigns. She previously worked at Wheaton College (IL) where she assisted with the $36 million Campaign for Wheaton.
Dr. Brooks received a Ph.D. in Educational Studies with an emphasis in nonprofit leadership from Biola University's Talbot School of Theology in 2005. She was ordained a deacon in the Anglican church (ACNA) in 2010, and a priest in 2012.
She served part time as assisting clergy at St. James Anglican Church, Costa Mesa, CA, from 2010 - 2016. Part of her ministry was to provide pastoral care to women who have been sexually abused.
In 2011, Dr. Brooks became a member of the La Habra Area Chamber of Commerce as a consultant and pastor. She currently leads Bible studies and provides pastoral care to the business community. She also serves on the board of the La Habra Chamber, and was chairman of the board from 2013 to 2015.
She has been a presenter or facilitator at numerous workshops and conferences. She has presented scholarly papers at Evangelical Theological Society conferences, and is a published author.
She is chairman of the board of Uganda Christian University Partners, an American nonprofit that supports Uganda Christian University. She also serves on the board of her home owner's association.
She is a minister with Artists in Christian Testimony, Intl., and it is through ACT that she raises support to do innovative ministry among the business community and as a church planter.
